《the 2Vth》
After the large-scale democratic demonstration in Egypt in 2011, Shahin combined Guy Fawkes's image and that of the famous Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun without the royal crown, to create The 2Vth showcased in this exhibition. The work expresses his view on this revolution ignited by the young generations in Egypt; and the addition of the treasure chest found in the pharaoh’s tomb shows his respect to his native Egyptian culture and traditional art.
